There are two gifts we should give our children; our roots and their wings. – Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Gabby Sullivan is a native New Yorker. At the age of 17 she is an already accomplished athlete and student at Forest Hills High School earning a 95 GPA and a spot on the handball and varsity volleyball teams. Growing up with both parents gives Gabby a solid foundation in her roots and the confidence to pursue her dreams. Congratulations to our new Player of the Week – Gabby Sullivan.

Gabby started playing wallball at the age of 12. She learned from her Father who was introduced to the game by his Mother, Gabby’s Grandmother. It is no accident that Gabby possess a unique skill set and athletic ability to excel in the sport. In addition, Gabby’s Irish heritage undoubtably plays a deep-rooted role in her talent. Combine that with a supportive parents and a relentless mentality and Gabby is destined for greatness!

Off the court Gabby has a passion for music. She knows how to read sheet music, play the piano and sang in a choir. She intends to pursue music long-term in college and beyond. Although, she credits the sport of wallball for building her confidence in other areas of her life. “It helped me boost my confidence in myself and has taught me to believe in myself and trust myself more,” she says. About a year ago she met Malcolm Rodriguez at Astoria Heights Playground which is where she began taking a competitive interest in wallball outside of school. Today, Malcolm plays a role in coaching Gabby. “He’s taught me to have better positioning so that I can land my shots more efficiently,” she says.

We wish Gabby good luck and look forward to witnessing her performance in Princess of the Court on Saturday, June 15th. Congratulations to our new Player of the Week – Gabby Sullivan!
