ABILITY is what you are capable of doing.
MOTIVATION determines what you do.
ATTITUDE determines how well you do it.
This week we recognize a young athlete who possess the natural ability to be a top competitor, the self-motivation to push through adversity and a humble attitude that inspires even his opponents to display the utmost respect while battling out on the court. At wallball, winning isn’t everything but the will to win is and that is why we chose to highlight our new Player of the Week – Tyshawn Morante.
Tyshawn is fairly new to the wallball (handball) community, yet in a very short time has managed to climb the ranks among the junior athletes. At 18 years of age he landed 2nd place in the 2017 Prince and Princess of the Court Tournament at Juniper Park, Queens New York. He grew up playing at Belmont Park on 182nd street in the Bronx and quickly became a fan favorite for his athleticism and humble attitude. It’s no surprise that off the court Ty secured a varsity position as a High School Freshman and played four years of football before being recruited to Brockport College. “Wallball helps me tremendously with my football game. I’m more aware of what’s going on when on the field and it sharpened my hand-eye coordination” says Tyshawn. “Wallball will probably be part of my life forever”. The main thing I love about it is that it’s a great stress reliever. If you’re aggravated you can just take it out on the ball by simply hitting it against the wall. It gives me a good adrenaline rush.”
Ty is the first member of his family to go to college and he hopes to one day earn his degree in Obstetrics and Gynecology. We look forward to new developments and celebrating the accomplishments of this young athlete both on and off the court.
Congratulations to our new Player of the Week – Tyshawn Morante.
