This week we recognize a player and tournament host who’s passion for the sport spans over a decade and even though she’s thousands of miles from where she started her wallball (handball) journey, she didn’t let that stop her from still spreading her love for the game. Congratulations to our new Player of the Week and Florida’s Queen of the Court – Broadway Anna!

  1. Where are you from?

I was born in Manhattan and raised in Queens then moved to Florida in the year 2000.

      2. How did you first become introduced to handball?

Going to the local parks with my older sister, Linna, and watching her play.

      3. What keeps you motivated to play the sport today?

The passion I have for the sport and meeting players with different skill levels.  Also the fun, excitement and competitiveness of the sport.

      4. How did you prepare to compete in Queen of the Beach?

I went to the park and played as many games as I could.  The night before in Hollywood Beach Garfield Courts aka Handball Heaven, I played against my sister, Helen, who was visiting from NY.  She was the best person to practice and train with.

     5. Who was your hardest competitor in the tournament?

Alexis Ruiz-Gentile.  She fought very hard to the end without giving up.

      6. Why is the sport important to you?

It keeps me in physical and mental shape.  It also introduces me to a diverse range of players.

     7. What do you hope to achieve in the future as a promoter/organizer and competitor in the sport?

I would like to host an International tournament in Hollywood, Florida.  I would like to also win a tournament outside of Florida like in New York, Las Vegas and/or California. They have great competitors in those states and that would be a great accomplishment!

Congratulations to our new Player of the Week – Broadway Anna
