“Rivers know this: there is no hurry. We shall get there some day.”

This year Wall Ball would like to highlight a player who has been a part of the New York handball scene for almost a decade. He began 2014 with impressive placements such as Champion of the Racquetball “B” doubles event with partner Ralph, then 1st Place Champion at Zerega’s A/B handball doubles with partner Timbo Gonzalez and just recently landed 2nd place in a Paddleball event with partner “Lefty” Dave. It is a rare occurrence for a single player to transition to the many facets of 1-wall play and this player has most certainly impressed us with his many talents and perseverance. Congratulations to our new Player of the Week – William Rolon!

In his own words:

I’m going on 8 years playing handball. I first started playing at 102nd Park in “El Barrio” Bronx, New York. The old timers there inspired me to play the sport of handball. Once I started playing there was no going back; I was addicted! Today there are a lot of talented players out there that motivate me to keep playing such as Rookie, Geo, Tavo, Timbo, Pooch and Carlin. They are the best in the game right now and keep the sport very interesting with their talents. If I had to pick a favorite, I’d have to say Tavo because he is very humble and never gives up.  He also tries to help his partners improve in their game which is something I think all pro level players should do. I can see handball going far if everyone continues to play at a professional level. I’m a very competitive player and I like when the odds are against me because it just pushes me to no limits. I feel I have accomplished a lot in handball within the 8 years that I’ve been playing and for me this is only the beginning…
